MS. JACKIE
Six weeks later...........
I knew that I treated Angeleese and her children wrong but I just didn't believe at the time that any of her children belonged to my son. When TJ died it crushed my heart as would the death of any child. I didn't know I could feel a pain like that until then. I felt sorry for the way I mistreated Angeleese and the children so I made a vow after TJ's funeral that I would be more involved. I couldn't imagine what it felt like to lose a child so I tried my best to help Angeleese out any way that I could.
She had taken a leave of absence from work and her boss was very understanding. He assured her that whenever she was ready her job would be waiting for her. My heart went out to her as a mother. It was then that I said to myself I was going to let bygones be bygones. If my son was claiming them then so would I and I wouldn't miss out on any more time with my grandchildren. Terrance was racked with guilt for the way he had recently treated Angeleese and his children. He truly felt that somehow this was all his fault and my heart went out to my only child. I knew I couldn't help him anymore that I could help myself but I promised him that together we would get through this.
Exactly one week after TJ's funeral I came home to find a letter taped to my door. It was a plain envelope with no name or return address on it, just my name. I removed the envelope from the door and proceeded into my house. I dropped it on my coffee table and went to my room to get out of my work clothes. I wanted to get comfortable before I did anything else. I got myself situated, made me a sandwich and grabbed a drink before I went back into my living room.
I made myself comfortable as I took a big bite out of my sandwich and reached for the mysterious envelope. I tore it open wondering what it could possibly be but never in a million years did I think it would be this. I had to re-read it several times before it registered in my head that it was a DNA test. According to this paper my son was the father of all four of Angeleese's children. It was also accompanied by a handwritten note from Angeleese.
